Plant
Down deep, people believe some terrible stuff about themselves. They need to be told straight out that they are loved, forgiven, and that there is hope.
Lies need the dark.
In a special moment some people will open up their doubts about themselves to us. They may do something that reveals this is significant to them, like saying "Hey can we talk alone?" as they start the conversation. But often in the moment of actual opening their heart, they will be a little dismissive in their words and non-verbals. Making it seem like it is no big deal is another attempt at safety in such a vulnerable moment (jut like the talking alone step was) but for the listener it is easy to catch the first and miss the second.
Be ready, because when someone has opened up the dirt of their heart you can strike a real blow to the festering lies and plant truth. Look them in the eyes, speak true--real, genuine, trust-worthy, pure, alive.
Then don't forget the treasure they have shown to you. Nurture them, prove worthy of their great trust.
